Default Am I missing something?

2007 4.6 xlt. My truck has been stalling when turning sharply, pulling into parking spots etc. I’m thinking power steering pressure switch just from what I’ve been reading. Does my truck have one? I have been trying to find it, had my hands on all lines coming out of the pump, tracing them with my hand and I see no pressure switch, no harness etc. I’ve looked at the diagrams for 04-08 and see the part, and it is just not there in my power steering system.

I'm no expert on the GEN 11 F150 even though my parents have owned theirs for probably 11+ years, but I did own an 03 Cobra that was a stubborn staller and common issues that would cause older Fords to stall were dirty or bad IAC (idle air control) valves and bad or poorly positioned TPS. (throttle position sensor)

You could try cleaning or replacing the IAC and the TPS needs to read a certain # on a meter to work correctly, but I can't remember what that # is or what unit it's measured in. If I remember correctly just because the TPS doesn't read what it's supposed to does not necessarily mean it's gone bad, but that it could be positioned wrong, and you loosen the screws holding it to the TB and rotate it a little until it reads correctly then tighten it down. Still if this is a new issue and you haven't moved the TPS then my guess is that the TPS would be bad if it is in fact the TPS that's causing your issue.

Hope this can help you, but IDK.

Thank you will check that out. It’s only happening when I turn sharply, or lock the wheel at any turn

does it completely kill/die? What does it take Before it will restart again?

yes, when turning into a parking spot etc, the rpm will drop very low and then it will stall. If I quickly straighten the wheel I can save it before it stalls. Once the wheel is straight, it will start up no problem and drive. It only happens when I turn the steering wheel to turn the truck a 90 degree turn

haven’t heard of that before. Dumb question perhaps, but have you checked the level and condition of your fluid and/or done a flush?

I’ve seen the same issue as mine posted and more often than not people were referencing the power steering pressure switch. I’m having a hard time locating mine. It just isnt there

Just a couple other things you might try that can cause idle issues as well.

A dirty MAF sensor can cause stalling. You can buy some MAF cleaner and clean it off. If you use a oiled air filter like a K&N you don't want to over oil it as the incoming air can pull oil off the filter and blow it onto the MAF and it will throw its readings off. Just use a light coat of oil on a oiled filter.

Also a dirty TB can cause idle issues. If you've never removed it then you'd be surprised at how dirty it can get. You could try taking it off and cleaning it with some electric cleaner or something. Just don't damage the TPS sensor that's bolted to it when you do.

thanks. This ONLY happens when I am turning the wheel, would any of the above listed be an issue when turning the wheel?

You should check and see if you have any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). If you do not have a code reader most any auto parts store will read them for free. Have the DTCs read and report back with results.

As for the power steering pressure sensor, and according to RockAuto.com you do have a pressure sensor. I do not know its location but I would guess it is attached to the power steering pump
