Default Am I crazy...

So for the past 2 months I've been doing a lot of research about lift kits and which one to get. I finally narrowed it down to 2 lifts, Zone off road or RCX. I even found a place that charge a decent price on labor/alignment.

So my question is, is it too "LATE" for me to get a lift. Meaning.....my 06 F150 SCAB has about 52K and I feel that it might be too late to do such a BIG mod. Is my truck half way past it's life expectancy? Sorry for my noob-ness, but when I think of getting lifts, I think of brand new trucks, trucks with no more than 10-20K, am I crazy?

Don't get me wrong, I plan to keep this truck for a very long time, but I don't want to throw 1500-2000 grand down the toilet if it's too late. So should I just keep it how it is now or live by the motto, "You only live once."

Maybe I just need some motivation or something....

I've got 52k on my XLT and I just spent about $1,500 on tires and a full bilstein leveling kit. I say go for it! Its all about what you want and besides if you take care of our trucks they will take care of you. I say you could easily get 200k out of our trucks if you take care of them. I say throw the lift on, change the oil every 4-5k and enjoy it. Trust me, I was in the same boat as you when I was planning on leveling it and putting the tires on.. Its a big step but I just now got all my parts and I must say I'm pumped!!!! Just don't buy the cheap stuff to be saving money. If your going to do it.. DO IT RIGHT!

I have a 160k mile '91 and would love to throw a 6in on it. Can't afford that but have a leveling kit getting put on friday morning. Never once have I wondered about life expectancy of this truck or anything, just yesterday I drove it 80 miles and didn't worry a bit. Last summer drove a 350 mile trip and back, only problem that showed itself was a radiator that had a lot of gunk in it. Still didn't have a problem

I just put a 6" RCX on my 07 scab w/ 45k on it. I love it. Don't forget to throw some wheel and tire money in the toilet. Freaking tires were $1400.

Thanks ya'll.

Sawman, your truck is a beast.

My current set up is 33" tires wrapped around my stock 18", I plan on keeping the 33" when I get my lift and just get some aftermarket wheels. I know the 33" will look kinda goofy with the lift kit, but they're only a year old and I don't think BOSS-Lady will let me get another set....

Bought my f150 fx4 in late 2004. It was stock till 2011. Added the lift, wheels and other small projects Jan 2011.
I felt like you and I'm glad I did it cause I feel like I have a brand new truck. I plan on going another 7yrs with this truck. I get more compliments now than when it was brand new.

"Half way through it's expectency"?

At only 52k?

It's not even broke in yet!

At 52K you are much closer to 1/5 or 1/4 life than 1/2.

Sounds like a lot of votes towards the lift. I don't like moding my rigs until they are out of warranty anyways... just in case.
