Default Alternator problem

Over the past month I've been through 3 alternators. The first one was overcharging and killed my battery, so I replaced both. It was fine for a week or 2 and then the same thing again happened. Found something that was drawing a lot of current when the truck was off. That solved my dead battery in the mornings problem. Now most recently after replacing the alternator the second time it was fine for a day. Then ended up showing a fault for not charging. My dad suggests cause the battery was completely dead. Charged the battery, no more fault. Drove it for a day no problems constantly checking the battery with a volt meter. Went outside this morning truck started right up, but the volt gauge needle shot up and everything cut off. At low rpms everything inside works but shows a battery/alt fault light. Anything over 1200 rpm it overcharges and I lose everything.

And I just having really bad luck with alternators from oriellys ?

Probably so, I had that problem with reman altenator from auto zone. Go get an altenator from your local dealership and you should be fine.

I had the same issue with fuel pumps a couple of years ago. 4 pumps from the same store, each lasted anywhere from 1 week to 3 weeks and went bad. Bought one from another store, good to go. Try the dealership.

What are the chances that the plug on the truck harness is causing it?
