Default alternator...

Just out of curiosity, has anyone found some good deals on an alternator? After 194k miles, 10 years, a head pull (to machine out exhaust studs) and resulting oil "event" (why I don't like other people working on my truck), it's time for a new one...

Sometimes you are better served having yours rebuilt by a local shop that services/sales electric motors. You can get it done at about half the cost of replacement. Downside is being without your truck for a few days.

I had mine rebuilt by a local alternator shop. Also had them bump up the amps to 200amps. All said and done was around 300 bux.

Just so people have a reference, here's an update. With shipping included, the best deal I found was at Rock Auto. Do a Google search for "Rock Auto coupon", and there's a bunch of 5% off codes. That's good for anything to. May not save a whole bunch of money, but some is better than none!
