Default Air intake install

this might be a stupid question, but i have never installed a CAI. anyways i was looking at my stock intake (07' 4.6) and there are two wires connected to the intake.

if i install a K&N CAI for my 4.6 should there be connections for there wires? if anyone has recently done an install maybe you can help, thanks!

Hello, yes the K&N kit has the connectors for the wires included. It looks very complicated but if you follow the instructions it is very easy to install. The only thing is you must have a tune for it, very importent. My pick was the SCT tuner with VMP tunes. Never threw a code and it sounds really good. What a difference in performance.

I don't think you'll need a tune, due to the fact of having the 4.6. The 5.4's were noted for running lean from the factory. Adding a CAI would push them over the edge. The worst years for the 5.4 were the 04-06, i believe.

I'm in agreement with the above post. I'm thinking you'll be fine.

You DON'T have to get it tuned. The 4.6 is fine...Altho a tune from a reputable company will take advantage of the increase in airflow the CAI provides.
