Hat is the difference between a cold air intake and a normal air intake besides the fact one brings cold air in and the other doesn't

 

Your factory is basically a Cold Air Intake being that it draws air in from the fender and not from the engine compartment. I have no idea why an open CAI is called that being that it draws in air from the engine compartment that is hot.. Your best options would be a sealed fender CAI or one of those hood intakes...

 

Not all CAI's work the way you mentioned.

 

This is the way I see it... You could have a scoop or plenty other methods... If they don't work that way then explain your thoughts to the OP.... I think that would be a better option don't you think than to say "NOT ALL CAI'S WORK THE WAY YOU MENTIONED"..... Wasted post bro....
