Default After years of driving 2016-2020 F150s, bought a 2006

This thing was taken care of. 134k miles. Lots of work done, detailed records of all routine maintenance. Does have some rust on the bumpers (those will be replaced) and rear corners of cab. But all in all a solid truck.

Just got tired of all the gadgetry on the new ones. I wanted to go back to the simpler life! Love this truck, the way it rides.

Yes, I rank this style above the 2015-2021. Way better to me than the 09-'14s.

Have several upgrades planned. LED lighting all around. A black out theme. Bull bar. New bumpers. Etc.

I want new flares to cover the wider tires that stick out, but some buddies of mine said they prefer the factory flares. We torched them to get them to darken up again. Don't have new picture of that yet.

What did you not like about the 15+ out of curiosity? I had a 2008 for nearly 15 years. I loved that truck. I thought it still looked amazing after all those years. I will say, I like my 2017 a lot more though. It’s a nicer ride, better mpg, more power and I like the modern options.

04-08 are still the nicest looking older model trucks out there hands down. Just curious why you’d make the backwards switch though?

The 06 looks great.

The 15+ to me feels much bigger and not as agile compared to my 05, plus even the 4 wheel drive version sits lower than my 2wd with a level kit.

I do love the 11th gen body style but there is no way I could give up the comfort and power that my 15 has over my 05. Nice truck though!

Nice looking truck!!

Could not agree more on all the gadgetry that vehicles have now a days. I just see all that stuff and think to myself that I hope I never have to pay to get just one of those fixed. Just give me a basic car that is reliable. If something does go wrong it is easily repaired and doesn't require another house mortgage to pay for it. Okay, I exaggerated on how high the cost is but, if it is something other than what a basic car has, it is a minimum $1000 or more. A lot of times that is for just the parts and no labor.

I had a 16, then a 19, then a 20. I just felt that they were $55k (my 19 was a $60k+ Lariat) luxury vehicles Not trucks. I didn't use them like my previous trucks (had a 94 F150 lifted with 35" tires and a 01 Dodge Ram Sport). I was afraid to "hurt" them with some of the things I did with the previous trucks (offroading on the hunting property, pulling dead trees, etc.). I have no problem flying down the 2 tracks on our property with this truck.

Other than that, as the poster above mentioned, with all of that electric and electronics, the 15+s felt like ticking timebombs of a multi-thousand dollar break-fix about to occur.

The 04 and 05 trucks were super tall. Taller than the 06-08. My old 2wd 2008 had a 1.5” level and oem 4x4 blocks. Standing at the tailgate, the 2008 was taller. The cab on the 17 is taller as is the hood. I could reach the up near the windshield to wax the 08, but I need to stand on something to reach on the 17.

both trucks had 265/70r17s.

I went from a regular cab to a super cab so the new truck definitely feels less clunky due to the longer wheelbase.
