Default Advice on buying a F150 with high mileage

I currently own a 1998 Ford Ranger with just over 105,000 miles on it. I've been looking at used F-150's and all I am finding in my price range is very high mileage ones. I found this one here.

The car fax is clean, the truck looks to be in immaculate shape. I'm thinking of going to check it out in person tomorrow after work. I'm concerned about the high mileage. It has almost 100,000 miles and that worries me. I've been reading a lot that newer trucks are easily good for 200,000 miles. I just want to some advice on if anyone thinks it's a good deal and would you buy a truck with this high of mileage.

Ya id say its worth a look if ur interested. Those 4.6s were good nothing major iv ever heard of. 100,00 miles really aint that much so long as the motor was properly taken care of. Itll need the usual 100k look through and replace things. (Maby work tht in the wheelin and dealin) price wise seems fair you could prolly start wheelin and dealin around 15.

Shoot that's nothing. But WAY overpriced. Three years ago I paid Less than 15,000 for a 2005 STX 4x4 with only 54k miles. This year I paid less than 16,000 for a 07 FX4. And really nothing to worry about with that truck, especially with the tried and true 4.6. Not a whole lot to go wrong with those. I'll tell you this much, my FX4 feels just as solid at 122k miles as my STX did at 54k miles. Although I wouldn't buy a 04-05 5.4 but that's another story I guess.

Long story short if you can get the price down go for it!

Thanks. I will try and negotiate a better price if everything looks good and I want to bargain for it. Unfortunately, this area tends to sell homes and vehicles with inflated prices.

Last year I bought a 2004 fx4 crew for $14,900 with 100,000 miles and it's the 5.4l and it's been great even though it has the diesel sound at hot idle. I just drove it on a camping trip 2 1/2 hrs away from my home and it ran great. It was a one owner vehicle that was well maintained according to records. You can get a great truck with 100,000mi as long as it was well maintained. I suggest research common problems and if it's had good maintance you should be good. The 4.6l are way less problematic than the 5.4l.

And that's really overpriced for that model. Kelley blue book it and see. Prices tend to be different per area you live in. Try cargurus.com it's a great site for searching for local deals and you can search specifics like cab size, color, miles, price and so on.

Yea thats way over priced but a great looking truck. I bought my 2004 Fx4 with 79k on it for 13,900. It was just as clean with a clean car fax. I would negotiate the price.

I got my 07 STX this time last year with 116k on it and it now has 132k on it with no issues at all. Payed a lot less than that though.
