Default Additional Lighting ?

Took a road trip back to GA this weekend to visit the family. Half the trip was on unlit, back-country 2-lane roads. After dodging a deer and a giant dead hog in the road, I decided I needed to invest in some better lighting to use on these types of roads. I'm going to order Philips Crystal Vision Ultra bulbs to replace the OEMs, but I'm also looking at additional lighting (bars/cubes). My Limited's grill doesn't seem to be conducive to mounting a light bar behind hit, because the cross slats are so thick. I'm leaning towards mounting a bar in the lower bumper opening. Other than just being 'brighter', is there anything else I need to consider? Is a bar the best idea, or is there a better option. I gotta be honest, I think I'm more confused now after reading all the light bar threads here. Looking for some straight recommendations. Many thanks, and Happy New Year.

9145 bulbs in the fogs will be slightly brighter. Do not exceed 45 watts with the round fogs. Rectangle fogs can handle 65w 9005 bulbs.
A 20" single row LED bar may fit in your bumper hole.
I put GE nighthawk(??) H13 and 9005 bulbs in my truck and really couldn't tell a difference.

I've ordered 9145s. Hope they don't melt the housing. My headlight lens are beginning to discolor, so I'm sure that's no help. I may be expecting too much from new bulbs.

Same bumper you have. Dual row 20" fits well. https://www.f150forum.com/f83/2008-x...-mount-325850/

Those light bars block a substantial amount of air from the heat exchangers. I would be very wary about putting one in where you do any amount of stop and go driving in any climate.

Dangit, didnt mean to hit go.

I would point you in the direction of a retrofit HID kit. The 'highbeams' are remarkable, and should give you every bit of light you want for dodging the forest rats.

Looking into HID retrofit now. I think it's a better fit for me than a light bar. Thanks for all the feedback.
