adding edge programmer with over 90,000 miles
i have a 2004 f150 with the 5.4 im looking at getting an edge products programmer i was woundering if it was still okay to add this when my truck already has 90,000 miles on it???
If you dont have a warranty go for it. If you have an extended warranty then I would think again. I have thought about getting one also but my warranty has already saved me enough money to not want a programmer to void it. My 05' just rolled over 100,000 a couple of weeks ago
I too have always thought about this issue. I have 85K on my 2005, and wondered if using a programmer would cause some damage to the automatic transmission; a tuner changes the shift points and/or firmness of the shifts. On a transmission with mileage, I've wondered if this was a good idea to do this. It is always a good idea to have firmer shifts if you want a transmission to last, as firmer shifts replace slippage (softer shifts) and therefore reduce the wear caused by soft shifts.
I've always taken care of the ransmission (it's been flushed at 60K, and has a trans cooler), but I still wonder if it's a good idea to make firmer shifts to a transmission with some mileage on it.
The two testimonials are good to know that they had no problems. I'd prefer to get more before I'd go further with the decision.

In my experience, especially with these newer electronic things on these trucks, the programmer usually doesn't cause any problems. I put my programmer on at about 50k miles and now with over 100k, still no problems.
