Default Acceleration issues, CMCV?

Hey everybody, i have a 2004 FX4 Screw with 225,000 miles on it. I recently bought it in Jan, 24 and have had multiple issues with this truck. Right now somethings I'm noticing with my truck are a few things
1. tick from engine, can hear from cab. (Probably Lash adjuster/ rocker arm?)
2. Shuddering when after entering next gear and wont stop unless i let off the throttle.
3. If i drop a gear, i will accelerate okay, but there's a slapping noise like a rock in a tin can while doing so
4. after #3 happens, the truck bogs down and doesn't accelerate, and shakes like its misfiring.

Over my time with the truck, the CMCV(IMRC) has shorted out, failed, and melted. I'm currently on my 4th now. I've had my back vacuum hose fall off and cause lean codes(fixed). I've had intake gaskets replaced 3 times, valve cover pulled by a mechanic who wouldn't tell me anything (he just quoted a full timing job after i asked him about the ticking noise from the valve cover) Misfire on cylinder 6, Replaced the plug coil, and boot, had my emergency brake system fall off apparently and had rear brakes redone. Swapped to Motorcraft 5w-30 a few months ago but may try another brand and full syn blend.

I've recently bought the torque pro app and have tried to notice anything out of the ordinary to me. Only thing i can think of was that my 02 sensors are jumping up and down voltage wise, and the CMCV only being in 25% or 100% open when under heavy throttle

Some things I'm planning to check are, Fuel pump, throttle body and plate, plug torque, coils and boots, check the CMCV linkages, check cats, check o2 sensors.

Id really appreciate any help or advice to try and fix this issue as i need this truck handle an 8 hour drive to get for Christmas. Thanks!

I mean it quite possibly does need a timing job. 220k miles if it's never had one it's probably due.
Shouldn't make ticking noises. Too bad you got a crappy mechanic that wouldn't properly diagnose it for you.

Your quote "Over my time with the truck, the CMCV(IMRC) has shorted out, failed, and melted. I'm currently on my 4th now."
Seems like that is the issue that needs to be resolved first.

I forgot to mention that all the wiring had been redone along with a PCM reset. The part is new, the wiring is fixed. I feel like there's something else causing this issue. I still need to check on everything. Finding time as a student athlete is slightly difficult.

As for the timing job, the engine was claimed to be replaced in 2017 so maybe it is due?? I really wish the mechanic given me a reason why. I don't have start up rattle or phaser knock, so hopefully it doesn't look too bad when i pull it open.
