Default ac troubles

hello all i have run into a problem with my ac i have the digital control. when i press there ac light the control area shows the ac is on but the ac clutch does not engage i checked all fuses and found what looked like a bad relay i replaced it and have no solution in replacing the relay position r202 in the engine compartment fender fuse/relay box when removing the broken tab from the socket i shorted the lower 2 pins the ones closer to the fender wall and the ac clutch powered up and the system began to work. once replaced the new relay fails to control the system if removed and install a jumper in its place the ac clutch will engage but can not be controlled from the cab does anyone have any insight on what may be going on or any other areas i should check to help with the diagnoses
thanks

a hard read... if i understand you correctly, you replaced the bad relay with a new relay and the clutch will still not engage unless you jumper the bottom 2 legs.. need to read out the other 2 legs .. this is where your controller power comes into play.. when you jump the bottom 2 legs your bi- passing the controller in the cab.

so... does your A/C have a proper charge in the system ? this would shut off the clutch power if it was too low.. its a fail safe .. so it dont burn up your A/C

Could that be the same as when you're driving and the A/C stops blowing cold, but when you are not stepping on the gas it gets colder?
What does that mean?

I had this same situation a while back... It's likely that you are low on freon. Have it checked and topped off with a set of gauges. Those single fill lines with a gauge are junk and you often overfill or not put enough in.

This is normal operation of the A/C compressor; when the PCM/ECU (Powertrain Control Module or Engine Control Unit) detects full throttle operation based on the driver pushing all the way down on the right pedal, it turns the A/C clutch off to allow for more engine power. As soon as you let off of the "drive by wire" pedal (formally known as the gas pedal), the A/C clutch is re-engauged, and A/C resumes operation.
