Had a similar issue with mine not too long ago. Ended up having a leak in the high pressure line. Tried the DIY kits a few times without much luck. 1st time it worked but the leak let it out slowly. After I replaced the line there was air in the system and when I added the freon it all just leaked out around the nozzle because the system was full. So I had to take it somewhere that could vacuum the lines and refill. So it depends on the issue and if you want to potentially waste money getting the DIY kits because it can all leak out without your knowledge.
