Default Abs light ?? Help

Ok I have a 2004 f150 xlt 4x4 with 164,000 miles Im currently in North Carolina and I drove from miami,Florida, ok so when I left miami about 4 into the trip my abs light just turned on no blinking nothing just illuminated to when I when I stoped to get gas I quickly checked the fuses and brake fluid and all is good. Then when I turn on the truck the light was off and it was good, then 50 miles into the drive from the gas station it turned on again so I keeped driving another 3 hours and when I stoped again for gas when I was checking my oil I heard some sound coming from I think the abs moldualer. When I left again it was off then again 50-60 miles after the stop the light turns on and the final stop for gas was in town and I haven't driven 50 consecutive miles and I turn the truck off so it hasn't turn on again

So I'm confused on why it does this it has never done this befor and befor the trip I had driven on the highway for work and the light never turned on so I need help guys thanks

gotta read the code when the DTC is lit...could be the module or a sensor.

I believe we are in the same boat, mine has been on ever since i got the vehicle at 164,000, currently I am at 172,000 and it is still on. It passed the inspection so I am not worried about it. Let me know when you pin point it and find out what it is.

Most common failure is the rear speed sensor...but, if you don’t want to just throw parts at it trying to resolve the ABS light ...you need to have the DTC read...that will tell you what to replace for sure. One thing you can check is the connection of the speed sensors on the front hubs...

Yea like when I turn the truck off and drive around town it's off but when I was driving to nc at 70 mph 50 miles into driving it just turn on I have a obd2 transmitter and I use the app "Dashcommand" but I'm not sure if it reads abs code and also when I was driving down the mountain yesterday I felt the abs kick on quickly because it's steep down hill and rocky and my tires suck *** here

I had to replace my rear speed sensor on my 2004. It also only acted up on long trips. Definatly have it scanned though so your not just throwing parts at it.

I had the ABS light on an Explorer I owned. The shops I took it to could not find any issue and instead of throwing money at something that was not an issue, I took my dash apart and removed the bulb. I put 274,000 miles on that vehicle. The light came on around 120,000 miles. Never had a brake issue.
