Default 8.8 diff spline count.

Hello. New day, new question. I just bought an 04 with a 4.6. I'm pretty sure it is a 8.8 with the 3.55 open diff. Looking to put a LSD in it. What spline count are the axles? 31? 28? Thank you!!!

It is I just upgraded to 4.56 gears! 31 spline just call summit racing and tell them what you want 800-230-3030 and the tech line is 330-630-0240

how many screws are on the rear differential? 10 or 12? cause 12 means you have a 9.75" rear axle.

[i know 12 is 9.75, but forgive me if there are less than 10 on the 8.8]

I'm not sure. But I'll check. My axle code is 19. I think that means 8.8 with open 3.55.

I found an explorer in the junk yard with an 8.8, 3.73 gears and LSD. Not sure on the spline count though. Couldn't get the damn bolt out for the axle lock.

Hey guys, I'm new on here, so I apologize for asking dumb questions. I just bought my first F150 - a 2002 XLT Supercab 4.6 2WD
I can't seem to find the axle code you guys are talking about. It's not part of the VIN is it? I've checked the info sheet on the door, but couldn't find any axle codes there either.

Is it actually on the axle itself?
Thanks!

Brad
