6 speed replace a 4 speed?
So im pretty sure (according to my dad) that my transmission is starting to slip and potentially die on me. It has 86500 mikes right now. I was wondering if i could buy a used 6 speed and replace it with that. Ate long as it has the correct bell housing it should be able to be done right? I need advice so let me know what you guys think.

6 cog should bolt up for sure (5.4 3v)
Easier to buy a 5.4 3v 6 speed harness, ECM etc etc from a wrecked truck.
Would be nice if. Vendor / speed shop made a conversion kit. Would make smoking Eco's a little easier.

Huh? Why would you want to race another F-150? The Ecoboost would slay our 5.4s with or without the 6-speed. If an Ecoboost will beat my Ram 1500 Hemi then you'd have no chance at smoking an Ecoboost. Stock for stock, my Ram 1500 Hemi will kill any 04+ F-150 5.4 3V with any gearbox, up to 120km/h where the Hemi runs out of breath.
I saw a video on Youtube where two guys took turns drag racing a 04-08 F-150 with the 5.4 3V and the new 09+ F-150 with the Ecoboost. What a f**king joke, the guy with the Ecoboost was trash talking the other owner, yet they both own Fords. Why not pit it against a Ram 1500 or a Sierra 6.2? 'Cause they wouldn't win by much, that's why. I don't know why there's competition between different generations of the same truck.

Lighten up a little lol. Who said my truck was stock?
I don't discriminate against any make / model when it comes to crappy driving. I just smoke at random these days.
The look on their face after they have been smoked by a 'spark plug breaking, phaser rattle, manifold blowing 3v = Priceless
Anyhow, I might log onto Ford technical services and have a look at the 09 5.4 3v 6 speed set up and see if its just as simple as that.
For the project truck as I have nothing but time on that rig.

On another F-150 forum there has been several debates about how this will work, and to my knowledge only two people have ever attempted it. Whether they were successful or not is a mystery as I don't regularly visit those sites. It always boiled down to a transplant of the PCM from the '09+ along with the transmission from that specific vehicle. It has only been attempted on the 5.4 3V motors, not any other motor. A service advisor also noted that there was specific tuning in the PCM, which is the biggest obstacle. The physical part is simple, from what I have read.
Overall I'd like to see this upgrade on our generation of trucks if at all possible. It's sad to see how the Expedition had the 6R80 since 2006 and we don't get it until 2009.
