Default 6" lift question

Im looking into getting a 6" suspension lift for my 06 ext cab f150 4x4 5.4. I have a pretty good mechanical background and pretty much every tool I can think of. what Im asking is about how long would it take the avrage guy to install it from start to finish...are we talking a weekend or a few days? how technical does it get? and what "after install" procedures do I need to get done to it..alighment...etc. so anyone out there who has done this, let me know all the biggest pain in the ***** situations you encountered with your install please. thanks

Plan on a weekend. It all depends on the brand of kit, if it is a true bolt on, or a cut here, weld here bolt on. I'd plan on a weekend, starting Friday night if at all possible, that way you have the most room should any problems arise. I've done a 6 inch in 10 hours.. it's not too bad.

thanks man, what was the biggest problem(s) that you ran into? Im planning on purchasing either fabtec, bds, or pro comp.

The biggest problem I've ever had lifting a truck is steering issues. Many kits do not include steering parts so check when ordering. I've really only had these issues on chevys though. I lifted many Fords and only ever had driveline problems.

My pro comp took me and 2 buddies saturday and sunday to do but it wasn't too bad. The only surprise I ran into was having to take a sawzall to the frame lol. There's a section that sticks out where the rear crossmember attatches that needs to be trimmed in order to drop the transfer case.
