hi, i recently bought a 2008 ford f150 reg. cab 4x4 with a 5.4 3v. the guy i got it from never changed the oil on it. i changed it and it started making rattling noises and sounded like a diesel. i replaced every sensor u can think of and timing chain. it still made the noises. so i took the engine out and rebuilt it but i found out the place i took it did everything but pistons and rings. so the engine still sounds like its knocking and shakes real bad. sounds like its coming from the top passenger head. can anyone let me know what it might be??

 

it has checking light on and the code is p0012

lol idk wat brand but i replaced them twice thinking the first ones were defected.

 

did you put heads on it too? when the phasers go and it wasnt fixed soon enough it wrecks the cam and the head

 

the oil presser gauge seems to not be working because it stakes in the middle always. it never moves. i replaced the oil pump but my problem doesnt go away. when i give it gas the noise goes away but when i come up to a stop the motor shakes and rattle

 

the oil pressure guage is actually a dummy light...as long as there is at least 7psi it reads right in the center..problem has to be in that head somewhere

 

i got the heads rebuild and they cleaned the block. someone had told me the oil ports were clogged up.
