Hey all, newb here... I have an 05' F150 Lariat 4x4 supercrew

Here's my question:

When i start my truck, everything lights up on the dash. 4x4 high & lo, etc...

When i switch the truck to 4x4 Lo, it lights up on the dash... When i switch to 4x4 high it "does not" light up on the dash... Only when i start the truck. What does this mean. Possible bad 4x4 switch. I checked all fuses and they are ok. Just want to get some info before i send it in to the shop..

Try tapping on the actuator motor that is on the transfer case with a hammer.(not hard) this may help. Or pull the switch and see if you are getting power from the plug(which ever is 4H.also check the switch with a multimeter.

 

I've got a 2006 Lariat that used to have the same problem. But mine got fixed because of another problem. It started to make a grinding noise that turned out to be the vacuum selenoid. after replacing it, the 4x4 light turns on high when i turn the switch. It could be that the selenoid is going bad and there is not enough vacuum in the line when you switch it. Thats my wild guess anyway...
