Default 4x4 ls

I don't know much about 4x4 axles but if a truck has a LS rear end, does that mean LS front axle also?
I have wondered about the ramifications of adding a ls rear (presently open) and leaving the front the alone. I believe most of us drive in 2wd the majority of the time so it might be a good swap.

Thanks, I have seen after market you can order both, but I don't need that. Just matching gear ratio's

$500 for Eaton ls differential. But 3.55's just don't cut it to swap from an open carrier to a ls carrier. I wonder if 3.73 is noticeable. 4.10 is probably too much for a 4.6 with no plans of putting 35's or 37's. Most would be 33's
Truck is laid up for awhile, and this is a good time to do things.

Limited slip or an air locker for the rear would be good choices a full locker or mini spool makes it hard to turn sharp corners. I have a mini spool in my truck
