4wd problem

I have a 2006 f150 5.4 and when I put it in 4wd It knocks really loud when it first kicks in it doesn't matter weather im moving or stopped once I start moving again it always knocks is this normal or is there something I should check before winter hits it works fine otherwise thanks

Normal. Check your front diff mounts - they tend to loosen up.
