Ok thanks. Think I'll go get one tomorrow. I did a test that required no tools and everything checked out fine. I followed a YouTube video. Both hubs have vacuum from what I found but one is staying engaged for some reason

I pulled vacuum on the actuators and vacuum won't hold. Does that means bad actuators? What about hubs, could they go bad also?

I would say both IWEs are bad. From the sound of the one that is disengaged probably has a bad hub or the splines are all chewed up on the IWE.
The side that is engaged probably went bad then you could not hold enough vacuum to keep the other side fully disengaged. Chewing up the splines on the IWE

The only way to check if the hubs are still good is to take a look at them. The hubs are easy to replace and would only take a few extra minutes to do. If you have over 100k miles on your truck I would go ahead and place them. They are sealed bearings and won't last forever.

I would also do some checking to see if the rest of the system hold vacuum and the check valves are working properly. Otherwise you will right back here with bad IWEs

I have a thread about this. This is a very easy system once you figure it out. It could also be as simple as both check valves as well. Make sure you check those.

means you have a leaking IWE... Inspect the hub spline when you remove the IWE for replacement.

I figured both were bad. Guess I'll go ahead and change the solenoid, both IWEs and hubs. I have about 146,000 miles. I pulled the line off both iwe's and blocked oneand the line it self held vacuum. Is there anything else in this system that may need replacing? What thread are you referring too?
