Yes, same here as there is 5" of snow & my 4wd doesn't work at all. Will try the hammer on the servo motor truck. I find that the wooden handle of the hammer is a good substitute if you don't have a dead blow hammer. For my personal info...I haven't been able to find my fuse box, muxh less the relays. The owners manual says remove l/under dash to access fuses, but beats me which panel to remove. Can someone buy me a clue here? Thanks

On my truck, the fuse box is inside the cab on the US passenger side down by your feet on the right side just forward of the door.

The 2 4x4 relays (again, on my truck) are under the hood on the US drivers side above the wheel in a little black plastic box. You can see it easily with the hood up. It's right up top and super easy to access.

It was something with the 4H staying engaged. My dad has an 08 FX4 and it done that. We took it to the Ford dealership yesterday.

Unusual that 4L will work but not 4H.

I would check the procedure for testing the sensors in the shift motor shown in the TSB and see if you have an issue there.

I had this exact problem last year, 4H would not work, 4L would. Try changing out the IWE solenoid with the "new and improved" model from the ford dealership. Cost me $47 I think, easy enough to do yourself. Fixed my issue with the 4H. Good luck!

Now this winter I think I am having the same issue as others here in this thread. Lights on dash work, hearing the normal "thud" into 4L, but can't get either 4H or 4L to work. Will have to try changing the relays since they're cheap enough, then work on replacing the transfer case.
