3.55 to 4.10 gears?
I have an 04 supercrew, no level or lift, 265/70/17 tires and i was wanting to know the pros and cons of switching to 4.10 gears from the stock 3.55 gears?

Con's........engine runs at higher rpm's on the highway, decreased gas mileage, more engine wear............
You didn't say which engine, the 4.6 or 5.4.........either engine it would be great for, but I would think you would notice it more with the 4.6.
If you do get larger tires at some point, the gear ratio will be effectively lowered because of the tire size (not sure if lowered is the correct term here but the ratio will become less than 4.10)

I love my 4.10 gearing. Comes stock with the heavy duty. Right now I'm running 265-70r17 and have lots of jam. I'm getting 17mpg on average. On the hwy doing 60mph I rev at 1950RPM

If you tow a lot (as stated above) 4.10's will also help save your transmission...
Otherwise, with only 265/70 tires save yourself about $1600 and keep the stock 3.55 gears. I'm running 295/70R17 (34x11.75) with a 5.4L and 3.55 gears and it still has plenty of power. The only reason I would consider re-gearing to 4.10's would be if I lifted it and was running a 35x12.50 tire or bigger..

Pro's.........more low end torque..better for city driving....raises engine rpm's into the power curve faster than 3.55's, more power for towing, highway or city
