4x4 coilovers and spindles will work though. There's no reason they wouldn't.

Body lifts are cheap (parts) but, labor intense.. and leave ugly gaps that will need to be addressed.

Agreed.

4x4 coilovers will raise you about an inch and 4x4 spindles should even out the UCA angle to that of a stock 4x4. Adding a 2.5" level should, in theory, give you the same lift and suspension geometry as a leveled 4x4.

I have no doubts for one second that they won't bolt up. Coil springs? Go for it. But I personally will not recommend someone swap in a 4x4 spindle that won't have an axle coming through it and a retaining nut holding it together. Asking for trouble in my own humble opinion.

I haven't looked jet, but is in case of a 2wd the shaft one piece with the spindle?

Here's the difference between the two.

Here's the difference between the two… the 4x4 uses a hub bearing, so there's technically no spindle.

As XL said, everything should bolt on with no issue. What I would try to find out though is if you can run the hub bearing without a CV axle through it. If so then like he said earlier everything should work... again, It's not something I would recommend doing.

^^^^ Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. Parts are to different to work. I had the same idea about a year ago. Had a friend with a4wd that did a 6" lift. he did a full kit, that replaced his upper and lower control arms with ones that were stronger, and it replaced his spindle.

He offered me those parts for free, if they would work, and they did not. Has to do with the hub systems being different. On the 4wd, they are part of the drive system, and on the 2wd, they attach to the spindle. Thought I could get a cheap lift, until we took my wheel off and started looking at the parts.

You can on the other hand buy lift spindles made specifically for our 2wd trucks. Baja Kits, who if I remember correctly is a forum sponser, makes a 4" lift spindle for our trucks.
