Apparently it is some type of Hydraulic system that charges the batteries. It also is said to rival the mileage of a Prius.
Imagine that, pulling up to a light with s smug Hybrid driver knowing you F150 gets the same mileage?

I would like to see either format in a new 150
diesel or hybrid- I just don't like the current level of efficiency today's hybrids have. With these CAFE standards coming out and all this adjustment by bureaucracy it might just stimulate the research enough for something big from Ford. I'd like to see them ahead of the pack

Can you imagine getting in a accident with a truck sporting hydraulic pressure tanks holding the pressure required to do the job, or after the wreck fire rescue people cutting you out of the wreckage with these accumulator tanks lurking. There is already cases of rescue people getting burned cutting into the Toyota Prius slicing into the power cables to the battery packs on them.
My vote would be for a vehical with a drive train which uses a small gas turbine with computer controls enabling it to burn anything liquid or gas that can be delivered to it's combustion chambers. This last would make the treehuggers happy because they could use fart gas to power it. This in turn is coupled to a DC generator, which in turn drives motors in however many wheels is needed.
They already have a kit to install on the Prius to use the power plant in it to supply electricity to a house. I would like to see this in a turbo-electric F150. It the 1920's and 1930's farm tractors were coupled to generators via belts and where used for electricity in houses, and to charge batteries before the Rural Electric Associations where formed. The people without power in the Midwest would find such a truck very handy right now.

Thats very true but methane is much worse for the "global warming" problem or whatever. Tree huggers would hate that for sure.
There is a pretty much unlimited supply of fart gas on earth though especially at the bottom of the ocean
I'd like to see something in the hybrid form for ford thats worthy of actual work
