Default 2008 5.4 v8 problems fixed?

Hey everyone I wanted to see if the problems that were found in the 5.4 v8's fixed in the 2008 year engine. I bought a 2007 F150 2 months ago and now it needs a new engine. I don't want to put in a 2007 because of all the problems i now know it has. The guy said that 2008's are also interchangeable.

So i want to ask...does the 08 5.4 v8 have

The Spark Plug Problem Still?
Cam Phaser Issue
Any other problems in the engine such as knocking, bad valves or cam failures?

Thanks Everyone

Also can someone please explain to me WHY it HAS to be 5w-20 oil that goes in these engines?

Thanks

The spark plug issues were fixed sometime in 2007 I can't recall the exact date but most of the cam phaser problems etc. were worked out well before 2007, in fact the majority were gone in 2005 so its odd that you had to replace your whole engine anyway. Why did you have to replace your engine and how many miles did it have on it.

The engine is not yet replaced but I have no idea what the problem is... I think its one of the rod bearings because the sound is coming from down below. I just drained the 5w-20 i had in there and put in 40% 10w-30 and 60% Lucas Super Duty oil to try and see if that calms down the knocking but sadly it still knocks so i think the best option is just find a good used engine. So far there is 122,000 miles.

is it throwing any codes and have you had it looked at by a professional because I wouldn't just up and replace the engine if you haven't had it looked at

My Truck From Day 1

Truck had small tapping noise when we went to pick it up but i thought it was just valves or something that can be cleaned out with Engine Flush

Bought it and changed the oil immidiatly to fully synthetic castrol 10w-30

200-300 miles later noise got extremely worse while driving on the highway when i hit the gas hard pulling out of an entance

Mechanic told me to flush out 10w-30 and put in some conventional 5w-20 and bring it back to have a look-see

oil changed to cheap-o 5w-20 and about 1/2 mile down the road at a stop sign truck starts shaking and check engine light comes on

Flush out the 5w-20 and put in 10w-30 with 60% Lucas oil additive but the noise is still there and i dont think i have much time before it quits on me!

check engine light disappears but the noise is still there!

So thats what is up with the truck any sggestions?

This will help you figure out the spark plug issue.

I'm not sure exactly what that could be but if they ticking noise you are talking about has just intensified it is possible you could have a broken valve spring or something similar however that doesn't explain the shaking but I wouldn't recommending all of those odd combinations of oil either

NO NO NO that was the sound when we bought...200 miles later that sound became a REALLY loud metal banging sound!
