Default 2007 won’t start

Hey guys my buddy has 2007 FX2. Last week he went to start truck and it was slow to crank. Sounded like low battery

Next morning he went out to start it and nothing lots of power at battery but would not crank or do anything.

He bought a new battery anyway as his was 8 years old (yes I said 8)

New battery installed and still nothing lights and everything works
Weird thing is it says low fuel BUT it probably has half tank.

When we turn key on can hear fuel pump click.
Checked every fuse and they all are good, anti theft light is flashing normal

Sadly he only has 1key so we can’t test if that is problem.
Hopefully you guys can send me in the right direction.

The truck does nothing at all when turning the key to start or does it make a noticeable click?

Sounds like the starter may be going out.

Similar situation a few years back.
My fuse box shorted out due to an unknown windshield leak.
Luckily my insurance covered the repair.
May take a look at FB.

If I get under the truck and hit the starter and the turn the key you can hear it try for a second.
I also tried to leave key on and start truck by jumpering the starter with a screwdriver and I couldn’t get it to do anything. Just a tiny bit of spark.

You jumped the started and got nothing, I'm on board with tech that the starter is bad. If you put 12v to a good starter it's going to spin.

2 questions:
1) Does it crank?
2) Do you hear the fuel pump "prime" when you go key on?

Sounds exactly like the same starter issue I had.
