2006 F150 will not crank
I need some help. My 2006 F150 4.6l will not crank. It started and drove fine earlier in the day, but the next time I tried to start it the engine would not even crank. All the electrical seems to be working fine but when I turn the key I only hear a clicking sound from under the hood. I have read other similar posts and have checked the security system, it is functioning correctly. I have tried to start it in neutral. I replaced the battery 3 months ago and it shows 12v. I checked the wiring connection to the starter and checked the starter solenoid fuse. Whats next? Any suggestions?

Even a 3 month old battery can be a dud. If that isn't it, try tapping the side of the starter with a hammer, if the starter is going out, a lot of times that will get it to turn over a few more times before totally dying out.

Okay, so I jumped my truck and it did start, but it still would not crank under its own power. I took it to my local auto parts store, where I bought the battery. The clerk charged and tested the battery. He said the CCA were a little low. I put it back in and the truck started. He then used a meter on the battery, with the truck running and believes the charging system is working properly. He noticed a very small amount of corrosion on the negative cable end and said he believes that is the problem. I am not convinced, but I completely cleaned the connections. I am going to go ahead and drive it for now and see what happens.
