i'm buying a 2006 f150 with 70 kms on it, do ya think if i changed them when i get it i would have the plug problem and is there i different plug i can replace them with so i don't have the problem in the future or would you just stay away from that motor and get a 4.6 and less power

the 5.4 is a good motor overall IMO, i would change them early. i would replace them with motorcraft plugs, some 5.4's are picky and run like crap with other plugs, not all trucks, but some, but at 10 bucks or so a plug, i wouldn't risk it. if you follow the service bulletin on changing the plugs, it will limit the amount of breakage you will have, but in the end you may still break some plugs.

i would take it to the dealer to get the plugs done for sure what do you think of the 4.6 in a truck. and if a plug breaks what does it take to fix it. did you have one break yet.

IMO the 4.6 is a disappointment in a fullsize truck, however i am used to having trucks with power, losing 30% hp is a big difference. of the ones we changed only broke 5 total, we changed 6 or 7 sets

They made a special tool for extracting the broken part, espescially for Ford 5.4L.
Here is one: http://www.denlorstools.com/home/dt1...65600_alt.html

There are couple of company who made them but this one is one of the cheapest.

Hope it help !
