Default 2006 5.4 3v issue

Hello! I have an 06 F150 5.4 3v and have a problem. Yesterday I started the truck and it was idling weird(kinda high). Then I heard this strange noise in the rear and started smelling fuel. I jumped out and looked underneath and gas was pouring on the ground and it looked like it was coming from the middle area of the truck. I quickly turned off the truck and the leaking stopped. Never had this issue before, never have smelled gas in the cab or anything. Does anyone know what could possibly be the problem

Check your fuel filter and the hoses that attach to it.

If you slide under your driver's side area and look up, you'll see it on the inside frame rail.

Leak is probably coming from the filter or hoses going to and from it. Let us know what you find out

Well after inspecting the fuel filter and lines around it, it looked ok. I can't get to the line going up near the gas tank, and the closer I got to that area the gas smell was stronger..

If you have a helper, have this person turn the key forward one click without starting. This will prime the fuel pump and pressurize the fuel line. With you looking under the truck in that area, you may be able to see where the leak is coming from.

Make sure to wear protection for eyes/face/body etc.

Probably going to have to drop the tank, if the leak is up there.

Thanks! I'll give it a try and see what happens.

I wouldn't know where to start if that was it.
