Default 2005 screw build thread

Just bought this 05 on sunday. Love it so far. Cleaned the interior out really good today and pulled the running boards off. (they will be for sale locally, akron ohio area). I'll upload pics as I go. (if this is in the wrong forum section, a mod can move it)

I am planning on cleaning the throttle body, oil change, running sea foam through it.
I am hearing I guess what others call a diesel sound only at idle, not real loud, doesnt bother me. But I assume that would be cam phasers? I'll get around to replacing them.
Also want to do all the spark plugs.
Change all the fluids, trans and rear end. Any recommendations for doing the trans fluid? Just drain and refill? I'm not a fan of flushing transmissions

Have other stuff planned down the road, I'll update as I go.

Definitely looks a lot better with out those nerfs! Just look at all the stickies at the top of the 04 to 08 page and look through all them man. That will help you out a lot. Welcome aboard by the way!

Question, how do I know what gears I have in the rear end?

EDIT: I found a sticky with the info, Ill check the vin sticker and see what I have tonight. I want to see if I need a re-gear with the 35s.

Replaced both VCT solenoids two days ago. Truck was much quieter, got a little louder as I drove it more but overall it is much quieter and smoother sounding. I will switch to 5w-30 next oil change and expect it to be even quieter.

Newest update on the truck.

Could not stand the 5.4 cam phaser and related issues. Sold it and went back to a powerstroke.

I love the F-150 build quality, interior, ride, features and looks. Just hate the guts.

Nothing can match the reliability and performance of a diesel.

Sad to hear you sold it. It was a beautiful truck
