Default 2005 F150 p0012 code HELP please

okay so I have a 2005 f150 4x4 in good shape I have been getting codes for the cam sensors and p0012 mainly. the cam sensor code comes and goes but I haven't seen it in a while mainly the p0012 code.

the truck starts and idles fine driving it is a no go tho it sounds rouph and stalls sometimes and a little shaky at times. but when its in park and just sitting there idling its totally fine. If you put it in drive you can hear something just barely coming from the front . when it gets rouh you can rev it up and the roughness goes away I find that odd.

2 years ago I have the phasers replaced but when I got the truck back I didn't really drive it so they probably don't even have 100kms on them hardly any distance driven with them.

things I have done to the truck so far include, coils , ford spark plugs, new oil motor craft and motor craft filter , wiring redone , fuel filter, fuel pump driver modular, vct soloids, maf sensor and new cam sensors I run high oct gas aswell i put sea foam in tank no difference.

one more thing the truck needs for sure is a new manifold gasket passenger side. i will get to that although I'm more concerened about not being able to drive it the way it is. rouph an stalling sometimes ect.. any help would be great!

Default Points to failing passenger side phasor system

System is a hydraulic movement of cams using dirty engine oil . Pcm controls the VCTs by releasing oil pressure to cam phasors when off of Idle . VCTs have screens in them to block dirt . That in self causes problems . Tiny oil passages get clogged in vct housings and in cam journals starving lash adjusters and rollers .
Plastic chain tensioners blow out and dump oil pressure then chains start whipping and break plastic chain guides . Tensioners have to have oil pressure to tighten chains , Unfortunately plastic from guides get into oil pickup damming oil flow adding to failure.
Any combustion dirt in oil causes problems , only high grade oil and frequent oil changes will do .
Phasors must be OEM ,VCTS also, this system works hard and junk will not do .
As you can see you may be at any point in this cycle . Chains could have already stretched beyond the ability of tensioners to tighten .
You could inspect clean vcts screens and electrical pins of them . Drop oil pan and check for pieces of plastic guides. If cheap phasors were used there's a redo for you , dormans are junk . You may need a timing job .
This engine very touchy only oem will do .Keep her cleaner than your girl friend . Good luck on your fix .

Sounds like timing to me. As Redfish said. What brand phasers/solenoids were used? Was anything else done with the timing? Any broken guides? Blown out tensioners? Oil pickup tube cleaned off? New chains? Unfortunately just replacing the phasers is usually NOT going to solve the problem. The phasers are just the alarm bell for other problems which usually stem from low oil pressure due to all of the mentioned systems not working properly.

Have you checked for any loose plugs? Did you torque them down to spec when you changed them?
