Default 2004 power steering

Evening gents. Looking for a little help with my 2004 F-150 extended cab 4x4 triton 5.4L. I’ve had it 9 trouble free years. Last week the wife drove it and said the power steering was making funny noises. I check and the fluid reservoir was half empty. I filled and it promptly leaked back down. I added some Lucas. We’re in the middle of a big move and had no choice but to use it over the weekend. I had to add a half reservoir about every hundred miles. I thought it was a seal but am now sure it was the low pressure return rusted through. I made it almost home before the pump started moaning and getting hard to steer. I checked when I got home and this time the reservoir was still full. I ordered a new hose from amazon. Today I started it, the pump doesn’t whine and the reservoir is full but there is no assist at all. I’m going to change the line tomorrow but was curious for any input or suggestions. Could the amount of stop leak I used gummed something up or causing the pump to not circulate? Thanks Daryl

Stop leak could have ALWAYS screwed the pooch.

Did you bleed the system?
