Default 2004 ac

Original owner of a 2004 SCREW, 4X4, Lariat with the 5.4.

The AC has never been great. In the heat of this summer, it is really struggling. I am going to get it recharged. I seem to recall from years ago that if you slightly overcharge the AC, it works fantastic.

Anyone with updated first hand experience with this?

Thanks in advance.

If the system gets over charged the compressor will shut down.. The system is designed to run at a certain charge.. Do you have a leak ?

I hit mine with the AC pro kit from Autozone and its working pretty good now. Mine was also struggling to get real cool. I just followed the gauge on the can.

a pro kit will have gauges to read both high pressure side and low pressure side.

Do not overfill. I can cause damage to the ac components. Check the Freon and add if needed.
