Default 2" vs 2.5" leveling kit

I notice that a lot of people have the 2.5" kit installed but not all of them look level. I've seen quite a few 2.5" kits that cause the front of the truck to look slightly higher than the rear. Others, it looks perfectly level.

I'm glad I went out to my truck and literally measured pavement-to-top-of-fender in the rear and front and there was exactly 2" of difference, so I ordered the 2" autospring kit, which was perfect for my truck (glad I didnt order the 2.5" kit).

I wonder why some trucks only need a 2" kit vs a 2.5" kit... maybe something to do with a difference for the FX4s?

I'd say that maybe the 2.5" and higher are for people adding rear blocks as well. My 2005 FX4 has exactly a 2" difference front to rear as well.

Side note, I noticed you have the black headlights, mind posting a picture of them? I have a Dark Shadow Gray truck as well and I'm looking at blacking mine out when I do a projector retro, not quite sure how it'll look on the DSG.

nice job on the research. Its quite possible that people want a level kit that will raise both ends a bit more equally( higher), hence the 2.5 or 3in raise

I also wonder if there is a weight difference between supercab and supercrew trucks that might contribute too...

Sure, this is probably the best angle I have at the moment:

My '05 SCrew measured 2.25" higher in the back. I went with the AS 2" and I think it looks darn near level. I thought about the 2.5" but figured I needed the add-a-leaf to keep it from becoming a low-rider. But I won't be towing anything for another 6 to 9 months and when that time comes, I think I'll be going with either Firestone air bags or Rancho's to keep the ***-end from sagging from tongue-weight.

BTW - Good looking truck!

Here's some before and after shots of my truck before it got a 2.5" level and with the new tires on as well. Looked level to me, but I have noticed the front has settled a lil and now the front looks VERY slightly lower. Then again, it could also be the brush guard too.

Thanks! I do like the hella headlights. They seem top notch to me, not a single problem with them and I think they look great. Scored them on ebay for only $50, was incredibly lucky!

I put a 2" level on mine and I am SOOOOOO happy!! I can't stand the looks of a "nose high" truck. Good call on measuring your truck before ordering a leveling kit.
