Default 2" Tuff Country Kit Problem?

Hey all,

I Have a 07 lariat 4x4. Just bought a 2" Tuff Country level kit and brought it to my dealer to install. Got a call saying they installed one side and it didn't look safe so they took it off and but it back to stock. Is this BS? Did he not know how to install it maybe?

Any one have any issues installing theirs? Any help or advice is appreciated.

If they have never put one on before the angle of the suspension before you lower it back down does look pretty scary. All sorts of things are rubbing on each other. Once it gets weight on it, it is fine. I would say take it to an off road shop if you are unable to do it yourself. At least they will have a better idea of what to do.

No prob man, I just put mine on 2 weeks ago. It does look pretty sketchy until you put weight back on it. Not gunna lie, first time I drove it I was worried. No problems though.

Haha it's funny till you put it down because you start stressing when you see the UCA rub on the coil, and the stress put on the suspension. Once you put a load on it like OKF150 everything is perfectly. Make sure you get an alignment otherwise your toe spec will eat the **** out of your tires. Also you may have to get a couple of them because the leveling kits take a while to seat themselves properly.

Ok, im in the process of putting my 2" kit on right now, and ive paused my progress because I thought there was no way the UCA should point down as far as it does, but from reading on here, this should be normal until the truck gets back on the ground? And also, did anyone else have any problems connecting the tie rod back to the knuckle? Any tips would be helpful at this point

Yah I had that exact same problem that you are having. The best thing to do is to put in your outer tie rod in first, and thread on the bolt a little to keep it from popping out otherwise if you put in the strut there is no way to bend the tie rod in place to put it in. Also with the strut you will have to put it in by top first then use a pry bar or something along those lines to guide the strut back into place. Once you put the lower mounting bolt in the tough part is over. I think it took me like fifteen minutes to put just that one bolt in on the first side, then the second side took like two minutes. Also quick pointer be really careful with the boots and o rings that go around the joints, and usually when you undo these seals they never go back to how they are suppose to be. I recommend some kind of a silicone lubricant to protect the joint but keep from eating the boot that surrounds it. Also you will need an air compressor to get the torque spec required for the lower mounting bolt because I'm not sure if there are any hand tools especially torque wrenches that go that high.

I bought a 2" Tuff Country for mine and it's fine, I've had it on for about 2 months now with no issues so far. They're right about the angle of everything, but its fine. Nice thing about the Tuff Country is it has a lifetime warranty. Take it to a 4x4 shop, they'll install it cheap, just make sure you get it aligned afterwards!
