Default 2-into-1

I've been ridin' Harleys for some time now, and in the Harley world, 2-into-1 exhausts offer the best performance. They also give the bikes a really nice deep sound. Would this also be true for our trucks? Seems like most people go with a DIDO, SISO, or SIDO setup. Why not a DISO system, or is there even such a thing out there? I apologize if this is a stupid question.

just about any V motor is now dual in, single out. some put the dual tips on to make it look dual...

true dual exhaust seems to be an old holdover from the the muscle / hotrod car days. I've seen people say here that true duals aren't the way to go performance or mpg wise. most the aftermarket kits seem to just change the sound more than anything.

I guess I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to the setups on trucks, so I apologize if I sound retarded (I sound that way because I am. lol) Do the stock mufflers have a single inlet and a single outlet, or are they a dual inlet and single outlet?

the stock system is a dual into one. the two downpipes that come off the manifolds merge into one before going into the muffler, so yes the muffler is a SI/SO muffler.

That's what I was thinkin'. Would there be any benefit from a DI/SO setup?

doesn't it go into the converter first as a Y, then out as a single?

I've got a '05 F150 the stock muffler had SI/SO, the Y from the converter led to the muffler with SI/SO, changed it out for a 40 serious muffler and duals. Now its SI/DO, MPG went up, performance went up, and sound is great, I do want it a bit louder tho....

Does anyone make a dual inlet/single outlet muffler for our trucks?
