Your experience is exactly why 2.5" isn't advised.
I don't know how soon you'll experience it, but that's a common issue with 2.5" levels. Normally the CV boots can tear and upper ball joints will wear prematurely. Not a ton of reported cases but they pop up from time to time.
You'll probably get a few years, at least, before you experience problems, depending of course the status of your 12 year old gear.

Yeah, I didn't think it'd be that bad since I'd heard others mention they had a 2.5" kit, but after the install it looks like the upper ball joint and the cv boot aren't happy. If it'll last me 20-30k before things start to wear I wouldn't be mad. The truck is close to 150k so I'm sure things will need replacing in that time anyway.

Yeah, wouldn't worry about it much.
Honestly, if you have already gotten 150k out of the ball joints, just be prepared to change them at some point, and don't blame the lift as the cause they require replacement.

My geometry was a bit off after my 2.5" RC level so I took it into my regular mechanic and he aligned it and adjusted the control arms. All good and there was visibly less stress on the control arms after.

How long have you had it, any issues with you cv axles?

Only a couple of months. No issues so far.

A front end alignment won't "remove stress from UCA". Well, if it were WAY out during installation, the shop will pull it back to get it as close to spec as possible so I guess technically it COULD remove stress. But an alignment doesn't fix the problems associated with a 2.5" lift.

All I can say is that my UCA's were bent way down at the ball joint and after adjustments at the shop they were way better. Also, my passenger side was over 1/4" higher at the front and after was equal. My guy has some experience because when I called him and told him the height issue he right away asked if I did a lift or level. He's a good wrencher and the only one I trust.
