08 F150 Bed Alignment is off
I have a new 2008 F150 extended cab with a 6.5' bed. Anyway I got some mud flaps for the truck and after I installed them I noticed the right rear tire of the truck sticks out further than the left side. Its not the mud flaps because they are made for the truck and pre drilled, and when you look at the tire compared to the wheel wells you can also see it. I took it to the dealership and they told me it is the nature of the beast and it would be a real pain in the *** to align the bed to the cab and readjust the bumper and everything. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this on their truck. They told me ( And I take everything they say with a grain of salt) that they went out on the lot and looked at half a dozen other trucks and they were all off a little. I didnt have the time to check it out on my own.
Ive heard of this problem before. Although the beds might not be perfect from the factory, there is a set of tolerances and an alignment procedure that Ford has for getting the beds centered. Most of the time from what I've read, the crooked bed problem occurs when someone has their bed removed to apply a spray on bedliner. If that was done to yours, I would take it back to the place where it was done and get them to re-align it.
Mines off to but if you look around very few are perfect. Chevy is the worse. Measure from the frame to the outside of the tire mines out 3/8 which is much better than my 04 heritage was. Its the whole frame suspention not the bed
