Did Ford actually redesign new heads for those plugs or not? When I had my dealer install the Brisk plugs last month the mechanic didn't say anything about those. He looked at the Brisk plugs and said they looked better than any other option available.

yes, they are designed ONLY for the 3V heads, since the 5.4L and 4.6L use the same heads, and the design on the 6.8L V10 is similar, all castings are homogeneous. Ford didnt redesign the heads, they redesigned the plugs.

Dealerships are about the last people to know anything in the Ford Information Food Chain.

Are these suppose to be better than the Brisk and Champion plugs? Why did they thread them the whole way down the ground shield, is that suppose to help reduce the carbon build up on them?

IMO, Those two plugs will not fit the same heads. The thread pitch looks different. The bottom (old) plug looks wider at the threads. And even if you bottom out the top (new) plug, the tip would not reach the combustion chamber.

I believe the picture is comparing the new plug from an updated head to the old plug.

But in all honesty, everytime the issue of 3V plugs comes up, the masses want something free. On a final note, the cylinder head in the 4.6L 3V mustang GT is the same, but breaking plugs on the truck is quite prevelent....which leads me to believe it is not only the design, but also the removal technique.
Obnuse, I dont think its just that people want stuff for free. If you buy something and its faulty Do you just say ef it and go pay to have it fixed on you own dime? You shouldn't, it should replaced or fixed by the manufacturer. Thats not free stuff, its called good customer service and standing behind your product.

Removal technique for any spark plug should be : place socket on plug...remove plug...then reverse for replacement. Simple as that. Dont get me wrong I love my Ford, but no other vehicle I owned had this issue, so why should I have to warm up the motor, spray the crap out of my plugs with a penetrating spray, then pray to god that they come out in one piece?
I would not have the slightest issue with this problem if I knew that Ford was going to take care of it, not if, but when plugs break off in my head...but they aren't going to, at least not without me paying out the *** for it.

Truck runs the same but I think their costing me some mpg. Normal drive to work use to get me 13mpg. The same driving now seems to be 11-12. I'm also noticing a lot of soot on my tailpipe. I'm gonna pull one next week and see how it looks, when I have more time.

SOUNDS LIKE A GAP ISSUE. MIKE AT TROYER RECOMENDED 38 THOUSANTHS GAP IF YOU ARE RUNNING THE 14 SERIES PLUGS.

I don't know what model I'm running but he told me 40. I still have the boxes, I'll check later. But I can't see 2 thousands of a gap making any difference, if so then we would need to regap these plugs every couple thousand miles.
