Last time I looked Summit Racing had the Champion plugs selling at $13 each. They were back ordered till "early" May. I've seen them as high as $18. When I called Brisk about 2-3 weeks ago, sales rep told me the plugs for my '06 Screw were $17 each and $15 shipping.

I have come to the conclusion that no matter what Ford does, short of a massive fix it project a la gratis, most of you guys will not be happy. They redesigned the plug and it is available at the parts counter, there is an OTC spec tool to minimize or eliminate breakage, Ford revised the install on the 2006 model year, they redesigned the plug for the 2008 and 2009 model year. But, that still isnt good enough, so you are willing to spend a lot of money aftermarket manufactured plugs and then complain about how Ford's solution isnt god enough or that they werent thinking. If you have it so much, then go buy a Silverado.

YOU MUST WORK AT A DEALERSHIP. LOOK, I WILL BE HAPPY WHEN FORD REPLACES MY PROBLEM PRONE TWO PIECE PLUGS WITH NEW ONE PIECE PLUGS ON THERE DIME. WHY SHOULD ANYBODY EXPECT ANY LESS? ITS GREAT THAT FORD HAS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM ON THE LATER 07 AND UP TRUCKS BUT WHAT ABOUT EVERYBODY ELSE? MY NEIGHBOUR HAS AN 06 4X4 WITH 65,000 MILES AND HE RECENTLY (YESTERDAY) HAD THREE PLUGS BREAK DURING CHANGE OUT. I GUESS THAT THE ANTI-SEIZE DIDN'T DO MUCH GOOD. HE GOT LUCKY AND WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE BROKEN HALFS IN ABOUT THREE HOURS USING THE REMOVAL KIT. HE PURCHASED THE NEW MOTORCRAFT REDESIGNED PLUGS AT FORD FOR $25 A PIECE. WHAT A STEAL!! FORD SHOULD HAVE GIVEN HIM THOSE NEW PLUGS. SO TO PREVENT ANY PROBLEM LIKE THIS WITH MY TRUCK I AM MORE THAN WILLING TO PURCHASE NEW ONE PIECE PLUGS AND TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM MYSELF. I'M JUST NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT. AM I WAY OFF BASE HERE? DOES ANYBODY ELSE FEEL THE WAY I DO?

So Anyway I Spoke With Mike At Troyer Performance Today And Ordered A Set Of New 14 Series Brisk Plugs For $125. I Asked Him About The New Motorcraft Plugs And He Said That They Were Ok But A Little Expensive. Of Course He Pitched The Brisk Plugs. I Also Talked To A Few Local Mechanics About The Two Plugs And They Both Told Me To Go With The Bisk Plugs. One Of Them Even Had Them In His Own F150. He Also Purchased Them From Troyer. When I Asked Them About The Champion Plugs They Both Laughed. One Said That Champion Plugs Are Barely Fit To Run In A Lawnmower.

Kirt I dont think u are too far off base to think that Ford should take care of this problem on their dime since it has become such a widespread problem. I agree. I have 69,000 miles on my truck and I am dreading the day I change my plugs, I just know some are going to break and in the end its going to cost me a lot more than a set of new plugs to do a plug swap. This shouldn't be the case.

Since it has obviously become enough of a problem for Ford to redesign the plugs then I think they should replace all the older model plugs under recall. I think it would be more than fair. But since all of us who are going to have this problem are going to be S.O.L. I guess I will walk into the dealership with my butt cheeks clenched when the time comes.

Kirt just know u are lucky to be able to take care of the problem before it becomes a bigger one. I bought my truck used unaware of this problem, now I'm just going to be stuck footin' the bill. either that or I will trade it in before I change the plugs...

The new revised plugs ford is selling should come with a complimentary jug of vasoline, just to ease the pain a little...

caps off, please, you dont need to yell. I do not work at a dealership, I know that continually saying how bad the design is will not help me. I was aware of the revised plug for the 3V heads when they came out in 2004, if it was that much of a concern to me, I would have bought a 4.6L truck. But in all honesty, everytime the issue of 3V plugs comes up, the masses want something free. On a final note, the cylinder head in the 4.6L 3V mustang GT is the same, but breaking plugs on the truck is quite prevelent....which leads me to believe it is not only the design, but also the removal technique.

OK NO CAPS. Not yelling just allways use them at work. I'm sure the technique helps several people avoid problems but it did not help my nieghbour who followed the instructions step by step. Even ford has problems removing the plugs using there technique. I don't want anything for free just what i paid for. I love my truck and i want to take care of it the best i can. If i here of problems like this one i just want to do everything i can to prevent it. Last time i looked f150's aren't cheap new or used. We can go on about this for hours. I am just looking for solutions. I think i've found mine but i would like to know what others have done.

What's this one piece Ford plug? Are you talking about the one for the newer revised heads for 08, the one that has threads all the way down the ground shield. Does it work in all 5.4l 3 valve heads? If not, does anyone have a picture? BTW what's the part # for this plug

I have the Brisk plugs in mine right now. I wasn't aware of a one piece Motorcraft plug, other than what's for the newer heads. If this is something different I'd like to see it.
