Question 07 broken motor hooks

I started hearing a intermittent rattle under the hood. I finally tracked it down to the pics. Now 2 weeks later the other side started to rattle. Anybody else? Should these have even still been left on the engine?

Im sure thats what they are for. I was wondering if they were supposed to still be on. I took the other one off. It had broke in the exact same spot. Seems like a defect to me.

I was wondering if they are on your truck, because I was told by the ford dealership they were not supposed to be there... If you dont want to look under your hood its cool. I was hopping somebody might.

I just looked at mine (5.4) and there arent any that I could see.

I know some manufacturers leave them on. I have used them in the past as a better ground when jumping.

To OP:

Do you have the 4.2L? My friend has an Reg Cab XL and that same part fell off and she was freaking out. I told her dont worry, it prolly was left on. Hers eroded on the passenger side first. Just removed the driver side. But I have the 4.6L and dont have them on either side, and someone just mentioned he didnt have them on his 5.4... maybe this is just the 4.2L
