Well it look one of those fingers doesn't have to be bent very far to cause your exact issue he has in the video. I think that is more likely than chain tensioners being too tight. The tensioners are supposed to be tight. The only way they could affect timing is if the fixed guide on the opposite side of the chain was gone then maybe it could pull enough to affect timing.

I think you could check for a bent finger by pulling out the sensor from the front and cranking the engine by hand while looking in the hole with a mirror. Measure the depth to each finger as they go past and see if they are all about the same.
If you find that's bent back you could probably even snag it with a angle pick and pull it back straight without removing the valve cover
