Probably not injector then if you're not having any misfires. My next guesses would be the FPDM (again) or the fuel pump. Unless the "grumble" sounds like its mechanical maybe a transmission issue?

No the grumble is definitely coming from the engine. That I'm certain of. Why do you think it's the FPDM when it was already changed by the previous owner? Is there something that makes you think it's not the fuel pump? Or are you working your way up the list?

Just still working my way up. A FPDM is much easier and cheaper to change and Dorman parts have a history of failing. Just thinking of things that are easier and cheaper to fix. It could be a fuel pump problem as I said those are my last 2 guesses.

Fair enough. I guess I'll change the FPDM. I hope that's the issue. It'd be great if this whole thing is solved with a $60 part.

Changed the FPDM. Still having the issue. Some guy on the Ford-Trucks forum said he had the same issue and it was an injector. I'll be taking the fuel rail out to check the injectors.

Default Can't determine your miles from your profile

If she's over 100k I would change all injectors to new ones not remans . I preemptively changed mine and will do it again at 200k . Now at 172k .
I have the 05 and there was an issue from ford on those but I'm not going to let the dealer touch it .
Hold on to your socks they are expensive and should be changed as a set .
You can lift the rail, set it on dry newspaper and turn key on and none should leak . However that doesn't clean them or test spray pattern etc. nor test for intermittent coil . . They operate 10k times per run so I change them to cover it all. F150 torqued changed his and they ran 80 bucks each . My last set was over 350. Don't know who to buy from at this point.
I never had fuel pump issue on the f150 . Keep the tank full to cool it and change filters . My super crew requires the tank to be dropped and I would use OEM for sure, they are quite complicated .

Changed the injectors. Everything went smoothly until I fired her up. Fuel started to squirt from the joint where the fuel rail meets the fuel inlet pipe that connects to the fuel line. It looks like a weak joint.

Update: I changed the fuel rail and put the new injectors on. Took it for a drive and no issues so far. I hope that was the issue.

Default keep us posted

good luck . May take a week or so to be sure of it . I remember taking out fuel rail , I think I had to use a release tool on that fitting, is that the one that failed?
