Exclamation 06 Ignition issue. Truck will not attempt to turn over.

I have an 06 f150 that started acting up. The best way to describe it is that it's acting as if it it's not detecting the key. It would do this intermittently and sometimes even shut off while driving down the road. It would after a few tries (5-15 minutes) eventually start. This started happening much more often to where it eventually stalled somewhere and hasn't started again. From my research it seems like the iginition switch is what i needs to be changed first. https://www.autozone.com/batteries-s...tch/421345_0_0

I'm just looking for someone who has went through this to point me in the right direction or if i'm correct if there is a write up on how to do this or test for this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

I've tried both keys and had the same results. Pats light is flashing. I know nothing about a fuel pump module.

the FPDM is located under the spare tire mounted on the frame rail and is known to corrode and split open.. could cause the symptoms you have described...

Is this very easy to notice or find? i can go look at it now. The truck has been through a lot and this could be very possible.

Would the truck attempt to turn over still though? I would think that would be the case. In my situation it is not attempting to turn over. All i hear is a click under the passenger dash. Its just like i'm trying to start it with the wrong key..

trying to start with wrong key ? how is that even possible? yes.. a bad fpdm fits your problem... but it could be something else.. that’s why you should check that first. drop your spare and you will see it on the frame rail . 2 bolts 1 plug.
