Default 06 crewcab p0306 nightmare

Hello everyone,

I have an 06 5.4 crewcab with a p0306 and p0403 error code. I checked the cop in cylinder 6 and i'm getting the proper voltage and ohms. I replaced anyways and I still feel and hear the misfire. I'm dreading having to replace the plugs due to the known fact that they will break. I only have 67k on it right now so the plugs shouldn't be the issue. Just bought it a month and a half ago and it the issue just started to get worse. I am quite mechanically inclined and im totally stumped here. I really don't want to take it to the dealer because i know they will just try to tell me some bs. what do i do here. plz help!!!

I would go a head and have the plugs changed to rule them out, and to get them out before they become part of the head... You will not regret doing it now....

I have seen that they have been quite the issue in replacing. Any suggestions to ease the cuss words and ending up going through a case of beer before finishing?

rule number 1 dont be afraid of your truck...they smell fear. Do it the right way with the proper tools and you should be fine.

what all do you recommend as far as tools besides some good penetrating oil?

a spark plug socket not just a deep wall socket (the socket with the rubber inside). a spark plug gapper and the spark plug goo they always tell you that you should buy but most dont....make sure you do it when the engine is hot, wear gloves, and please do it one at a time.

I'd say do your plugs.

Don't rule out plugs just bcuz ur at 67K. Changed mine ay 75K and there wasn't much of an electrode left. I had misfire when I would gun it. No way those plugs wld hav lasted 100K. Follow the sticky for instructions. Do not do with hot engine, do with cold as instructed on updated TSB, buy the lisle plug extractor so that ur prepared in the event u need it, and give urself at least 4 hours to complete. Key in successful replacement is following instructions, havng a variety of socket extensions, and a lot of patience as there plug will be very very tight and you must extract very very slowly.
