what was the code? if it is an individual cylinder misfiring it would be P0301 for example would be misfire in cylinder one. so if it is an individual misfire code it usually will throw the code for that certain cylinder. That would be the cheapest way to hopefully for at least time being resolve your misfire. Sometimes the code I believe is just P0300 which would just be a general misfire, which leaves more of a mystery.

Hi & Welcome!

Yes - please post the code(s). Remember in future to Always write down the codes. Thank them nicely, but do Not buy anything they suggest until you give the good fellers her a chance to chime in.

Also - a misfire ( or misfires ) meanss that cylinder ( or multiple cylinders) is not burning the mixture. Over time, this dumps raw fuel into the crankcase and into the cats. It will eventually toast the cats - yours may be done if you let this go for so long. Need an exhaust shop to check them.

Post the codes - and we can go from there. BTW - there may be more pending misfire codes present in the PCM ( they don't set a CEL ). The typical parts store scanners cannot access them, you need a high-end device or a well-equipped shop to read them.

How aboot some maint history? Last time the plugs were changed? Original COPs? Fuel filter? Last time MAF/TB was cleaned? etc, etc .. it all helps.

NOW - on to a MUCH more Serious potential issue: '05 5.4 3V's have potential leaking injector issues - you NEED to read this and get it diagnosed and addressed if found to apply to you, ASAP:

http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/sd...229_r07m08.pdf

Note that it Must be a Ford service department to do the diagnosis in order to qualify for any covered replacements and labour ( and you are within the time/mileage limit ). This is NO Joke - a lot of folks have lost an engine to hydrolocking because of this. Do not delay.

good luck

I don't exactly remember the code numbers but do remember it was saying it could be MAF sensor plugs/boots or injector.if not in drive it will idle a little rough bit if I give it fuel it will rev up fine but when driving it will rev up but no power sorry for not bein to precise I'm just at a loss bought the truck from a dealer a little over a month ago bought a extended warranty that's not through ford an they wouldn't cover a tune up 2 weeks after I bought the pickup so just sick

Hi.

Wellsir - after the OP's revelation in his last post that this was dealer-purchased use just a coupel weeks ago, I'd now recommend he Aggressively pursue a diagnosis as stipulated in that Ford letter, and seek recompense if it is shown his truck is one so affected.

OP - get the deal with a printed copy of that letter - now.

Having said all of that, it is STILL this dealer's responsibility to diagnose and fix this issue the OP is having - there IS a Used Vehicle Warranty is there not? And it's longer than just a couple weeks.

OP - get in touch with the Resident Ford Customer Service folks on this site. Se what they say.

If you care aboot yer truck you should not just let this slide.
