Default 04 tailight problem?

I have an 04 crewcab 4x4 and i noticed last night that my taillights only light up when I have my foot pushing the brake peddle all the way down. I have to literally stand on it to make the lights work. Any suggestions?

Your indicating that only the brake lights are working, and that's when you stand on the pedal? I'd be checking the wiring in the back going to the taillight assemblies looking for a cut.

Not sure on these truck but there is usually a switch located in the braking system that works the brakes... a haynes or chiltons should have the wiring for the braking system

make sure nothing is loose or bent in the brake pedal assembly

If I understand your post correctly you're brake lights are coming on however require that you stomp on brakes very hard. The switch that turns those lights on should be attached directly to your brake pedal. Just follow the pedal up into the dash and you'll find it in a spot that will allow it to touch the peday when its pushed. This swith screws on to a bracket and if it has become loose or backed out it could require additional pressure to make contact and can be corrected by simply adjusting. The other alternative is that the switch is bad and needs replacement
