Default 04 front brake rotors..?

I've watched about a dozen youtube videos on people changing their 04-08 front rotors and half of them need a 42mm socket to get the rotors off and the lug bolts are part of the rotor and the other half are just regular rotors that slide right off once you get the nuts off.

Was this an option or did ford change this somewhere down the line? I have a 04 new body 4.6 xtl. thanks!

I don't think so. I definitely looked the videos over very carefully and read all the comments to make sure what the person had and what everything looked like. I see in your sig you have/had an 05. How were your front rotors set up?

I went and browsed around NAPA's web site and it appears the ones that slide off are for 4X4 and the ones with the studs are 2WD.

Did not have it long enough to know, a FEDEX truck hit me and totaled it!

Maybe a different towing package?

If that's the case then it's a shame. Paid $100 for these rotors that "fit my vehicle" and seller won't pay for return shipping which is $50.

I'd file a complaint and leave them a bad rating and crappy review!

The 4WD versions slide off and the bearing is part of the hub assembly, the 2wd uses a different bearing setup and the bearing is housed in the rotor. NAPA's website is sub par, granted, but it does prompt you to choose the driveline. Rock Auto is laid out much better and is easier to find parts on.

If I want NAPA parts, I go to the NAPA store. Their website has sucked for ages. Try finding parts for a Ford Freestar on there, it's essentially impossible.

I got them off amazon I put them on my old 07 and 08 mustang, my 06 ford 500. I've bought a dozen things off amazon because they are so much cheaper than advance/autozone/napa etc but they're hit or miss about fitment. For example I got 8 autocraft plugs for $20 prime shipped which is $10 + tax cheaper than anywhere in town and 8 brand new off brand cops for $30.

On Amazon it's caveat emptor for parts, rockauto has better fitment guides and is normally about the same price as prime.
